Everyone’s story is unique, our lives have been a rainbow of colours and emotions that demonstrate the multifaceted sides of lives well lived. Recording your life story is the perfect opportunity to share your experiences and leave a legacy for your children, grandchildren and generations yet to come.
In your retirement, you may think about the past and reflect on moments throughout your life: recording your life story gives you the perfect opportunity to be professionally interviewed and create a top-quality audio and/or video memoire that allows you to share the moments big and small. Pass on your family history in your own words and let future family get to know the real, authentic you. Share precious memories, hilarious anecdotes and insights into the choices you’ve made and lessons you’ve learnt.
Your Experience
Before The Day
After agreeing on a setting, we will offer you a selection of questions, or you can create your own and send them to us. Popular questions include:
- What do you remember from your childhood?
- What were your parents like?
- What was your first crazy experience?
- What is your happiest memory?
- What message would you leave behind?
We have a selection of presenters available that can conduct your interview formally or flexibly. However, some of the most beautiful moments we’ve filmed have been ones where the interview has been conducted by a family member or friend creating a truly intimate moment captured on film.
On the Day
Our presenter (if selected) will arrive with our Monkeynut media team, who will ask you your pre-approved questions, creating a professional but relaxed interview. If you’ve selected to have a family member as your presenter, we’ll run through everything with the presenter before we begin.
Our top-quality equipment will capture the sound and video with perfect clarity. Our state-of-the-art video recording technology lets your cherished family and friends see the emotion in your eyes as you recall your memories. Our friendly staff know it can be an emotional experience; we are here to listen with empathy and kindness, and all information will be treated as strictly confidential. We’ll also make sure you’re kept comfortable, ensuring you can take breaks when you need them.
If you have photo albums and treasured items you want to include we’ll ensure we go through all of this before we finish recording.
The Finishing Touches
It takes us around two weeks to edit your Life Story, taking the raw footage and using the very latest techniques and our years of experience to ensure your film or audio recording reflects your personality and story. We’ll package it beautifully, personalising it before delivering it to you for that all-important viewing.
- We’ll review the video and audio and ensure everything is perfect.
- We’ll add any photos, videos or music that you’ve chosen.
- Your Record My Life Story film will be loaded onto a memory stick and sent to you by recorded delivery.
We’ll be on hand if you need to store it or create copies for family and friends. Many families want to document others in their family tree and we can bring continuity to a series of family recordings.
